My First Month At Lawrence Rand by Lettings Apprentice Amy-Louise Purnell

I can’t believe how quickly my first month at Lawrence Rand has gone and I really feel like I’ve been here for years; everyone has made me feel so welcome.

On my first day I was asked to do a viewing and I was so terrified but it all went well and it gave me more confidence.  Now I just go ahead and do viewings without the support of another colleague.

I had two induction days at our Lettings Director Jane’s office in Watford and I learnt so much my head was spinning. We had training on ‘The 6 Principles Of Persuasion’, ‘How to provide the best customer service to customers and all about Consumer Protection Regulations. I drank endless amounts of Starbucks Tea and ate enough food to feed the 10,000!  Our MD Peter Lawrence took us for a lovely lunch to an Italian restaurant on the first day and the second day the girls all went for a cheeky Nando’s to celebrate ‘International Women’s Day’.

Within a month I’ve completed my first deal on a property so I am really finding my feet dealing with applicants. It was a quick and easy process compared to how I imagined but then everything went perfect this time, so I know that won’t always be the case. Once the tenants had moved in, I dropped over a Lawrence Rand ‘Bag For Life’ containing some goodies for them and their cat, which I hope they liked.

We had a monthly meeting foe all of the staff from both the Eastcote and Ruilsip Manor Office and it was so much fun, we all had a good laugh, and everyone had the chance to win a prize on the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and I managed to win a bottle of bubbly. Everyone went to the Ascot pub for a drink afterwards and then onto a karaoke bar in Pinner. It was a lovely chance to get to know everyone better over some food and a few drinks and a good sing-song.

We have a very busy month ahead, I have to learn all of the legal points of a Lawrence Rand tenancy agreement; the correct way to call applicants and gather the information I need; all about Landlord Obligations and how to explain the legal procedures; how to conduct a viewing safely; how to put an offer forward and how the deal process works…! I never thought I’d be able to learn all of this but gradually it’s becoming second nature.

Here’s to my second month… watch this space for my next update.
