HOW DO YOU SAY?

The top 10 most mispronounced place names in the UK have been revealed by the creators of language app Babbel. Frome in Somerset, most commonly pronounced as rhyming with ‘home’, tops the list, average property prices here are just over the UK average. Although English is the second most spoken language in the world, the laws of British English are well known for their complexities. None of these mispronounced names is spelled phonetically. Of these ten locations, all but four have average property prices higher than the current UK average. Beaulieu tops the league with the average price of a property exceeding £500,000.
