About The Local Area & The Community
Ruislip, Eastcote, Pinner and Ickenham are all in the London borough of Hillingdon. We could be described as a collection of "urban villages", each area having its own high street and different community feel.
We benefit from excellent transport links into London, and with the motorway network, yet also being on the outskirts of greater London with easy access into the countryside. Several parts of our area back directly onto open spaces and the green belt.
Many people move here from London and the inner suburbs such as Harrow and Ealing. Once they come into the area, many stay for the rest of their lives. Our crime levels are some of the lowest in london.
Shops
Each "village" has its own high street with local shops. We are also close to Uxbridge, Watford and Harrow shopping centres and only a short tube or car ride from the prestigious Westfield shopping centre.
Industry
Our industry is mainly light industrial, with some large firms nearby (mainly in services or technology), and the airport provides a lot of employment.
Transport
We have excellent rail links with the following stations:
- Central tube line: West Ruislip, Ruislip Gardens and South Ruislip
- Metropolitan and Piccadilly tube lines: Hillingdon, Ickenham, Ruislip, Ruislip Manor and Eastcote
- Chiltern railways (main line to Marylebone, High Wycombe and Birmingham); West Ruislip and South Ruislip
- Motorways: M25 and M40 close by
- Airports: Heathrow and Northolt both within a few miles
- Bus: A wide range of bus links serve the borough, and also mainline coaches heading out on the M40 to Oxford and Banbury stop in Ickenham
